Why BWTF Is an Elitist Site

I was told, or rather found out via reading over a friend's shoulder on 
his computer, that my guide to shitty MUSHes is apparently "the work of 
a shallow elitist." Now, I think the fact that the person complaining 
was, in fact, from Lost Years probably had something to do with it, but 
for some reason I decided to write up my thoughts on the matter.

As to the shallow bit, I can only snicker. Go code your own (successful) 
MUSH from scratch and get about three years of experience under your 
belt with various good/bad MUSHes, and then get back to me before you go 
around spouting that I'm "shallow" just because I happen to think that 
your favorite site is a piece of shit. I have perfectly valid reasons 
for disliking certain places. In fact, most of them are listed in the 
Guide. So that solves that.

As for elitist... well, hell, yes, I'm elitist. Every Joe Schmoe off the 
street who applies at BWTF is NOT guaranteed a character. That's why we 
have applications, and a fairly stringent approval process. What it all 
boils down to is this:

I didn't put all that time and money into this place so I can sit and 
deal with politics and losers whining about the anti-TS policy. This is 
not to say that EVERY app we reject is rejected because we think the 
applicant is a pathetic loser; in fact, I've had to reject plenty of 
well-written, creative apps that just didn't fit into the theme. But, if 
you're a dumbass whose only reason for having a character on any MUSH is 
that they're so desperate to expand their playerbase, they'll accept any 
half-assed concept that comes down the lane, it's a pretty fair bet you 
won't get a character here. :>

However, if you're a semi-intelligent, reasonably cool person with a 
sense of humor and no sticks up your ass, you'll probably fit in just 
fine.

So, if only approving good apps from non-troublemakers makes me an 
elitist bastard, @set me=ELITIST_BASTARD_OK.
