F1C PROGRAMMABLE FUNCTION GENERATOR
INDEX
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Programmable Function Generator is a solid state device that produces a 0 to 5 volt square wave. This function generator provides up to twenty locations for storing frequencies, time, and deviation. Each of which range from 0000 to 9999 with a floating decimal point. The device may be run a single frequency in manual mode, or step though the table of frequencies in automatic mode.
SPECIFICATIONS for F1C Function Generator90 days parts and labor, voided if OPENED CASE, MODIFIED, OR DAMAGED. Repair or replacement at the option of the manufacturer. Return authorization is required before shipping.
PLEASE NOTE: Each function generator is burned in for 72 hours. Using a high quality oscilloscope the function generator's output is verified to produce a 0.0 to 5.0 volt square wave. The unit is given a final check by plugging in a mini speaker to the output. Technician/bench TV repair shop equipment can not be used to discriminate the speed of this unit. If measured with a typical volt-ohm meter expect readings in the range of 4.5 VAC and 2.3 VDC. Equation is read voltage = 0.707 [RMS] x actual voltage.
|
The F1C is an F1A with the addition of a variable output voltage.
|
The display is used to visually verify the numbers chosen from the keypad. These numbers represent the frequency, run time in seconds for the frequency, the deviation from the chosen frequency, and the location of the frequency on the programmed list stored in memory.
| [Decimal Point] |
Selects an exact output frequency. For example, this is used to determine if the frequency is to be 125, 12.5 or 1.25 Hz. |
| [Plus/Minus key] [+/-] | Will sequentially light the LEDS's beside each lable title. You may read the table or enter new numbers into memory. These numbers are frequency in cycles per second, time in seconds, deviation [cps], and location in The table. |
| [Up Arrow] |
Increases the displayed value by one scientific digit. Pressing this key will advance a number one unit. Example: 25 to 26 or 2.5 to 2.6. |
| [Down Arrow] | Decreases the displayed value by one scientific digit. Pressing this key will advance a number one unit. Example: 25 to 24 or 2.5 to 2.4. |
| " C " key | Clears setting on the display until unit is turned off and then on again, or until setting is entered from keypad. |
| " E " key | This key permanently enters chosen values into the units memory. Your changes may not be saved without pressing the "E" key! |
USING THE PROGRAMMABLE FUNCTION GENERATOR
Please plug the transformer into the Function Generator unit, then plug the transformer into the wall outlet. Using a power strip to switch the transformer off and on would be best. Please use a seperate outlet for the Bare/Rife equiptment because of possible RF interference. While learning to use the Function Generator you may unplug it from the Bare unit.
You receive this unit programmed with Dr. Bare Frequency Table. . It will have GATING ON. The deviation is set at 5. There is no 5 minute warm-up time delay, as in the F1A/F1B models. It is programmed with no time delay time between frequency changes.
To program in a custom frequency into location # 1, follow this procedure:

To INSERT Dr Bare's entire table, remove power, hold "E" while plugging in power, release "E", the "EE" then "SE" will display, type 20 [SE20], press "E", a couple of blinks, "EE"--,120. The unit will display the frequency stored at location #1, 120.
To REMOVE Dr Bare's entire table, remove power, hold "E" while plugging in power, release "E", the "EE" then "SE" will display, type 30 [SE30], press "E", a couple of blinks, then everything is 0000.
With the "Output" light off, press the bottom button on the side of the case to select "Manual" mode. Now select the frequency / attribute you wish to use. Press the top button on the side of the case to turn the output on. WARNING: In manual mode you must explicitly turn the output on and off. The time attribute is only used in automatic mode.
The Automatic Mode provides an entire prepared table in the series to cycle automatically through the frequencies/atrributes. Every two seconds, the readout will alternately display the current frequency and the remaining seconds. The unit will automatically stop after the last item.
With the 'Output LED off, program up to a total of 19 custom frequencies / attributes into the table. The last frequency location must be 0000 to SHUTDOWN the unit. See location 20 in the above table.
Press the bottom button on the side of the unit to light the LED on the 'Automatic' mode.
Now press the top button on the side of the unit to begin cycling automatically though the table of selected frequencies. The automatic cycle can be reset and restarted at he start point of the cycle. Press the top button on the side of the unit to restart automatic mode at the first frequency [ location #1 ]
To pause the 'Automatic' cycle, press the lower button on the side of the unit to switch to "Manual" mode. Now turn the output off by pressing the top button on the side of the unit.
To restart the unit from this point, turn the "output" back on by pressing the top button on the side of the unit. After 2 to 3 seconds, press the button on the side of the unit to restart the automatic mode. The unit will now continue until the shutdown frequency is reached.
If you wish a time delay between frequencies, remove power, hold 'E', plug in power, now release 'E', 'EE' then 'SE' will display, type 02, it will read [SE02], press and release 'E'. For time delay off between frequencies, as the unit was when you received it, remove power, hold 'C'. 'EE' then 'CL' will display, type 02 [CL02] press & release 'E'.
TURNING GATING OFF Unplug power, then hold the 'C' key down while plugging in the power. Release the 'C' and 'EE' then 'CL' will display. Immediately type in 01 and the display will read [CL01]. Press and release the 'E' key, and the display will read the first programmed frequency on the table. Select either manual or automatic mode on the side of the unit. Now press the top button on the side of the unit to turn the 'Output' LED on and the unit is ready to operate in the continuous [non-gated] mode.
TURNING GATING ON Unplug the power, hold 'E' while you plug in the power again. Release 'E' and 'EE' and 'SE will display, now enter 01, the display will read [SE01], press and release 'E'. Gating is now turned ON. If you type a wrong number, start over. The up/down and +/- keys do not work in this mode.
CHANGING GATING RATE Hold the 'E' key down, and plug in the power. Release the 'E' key, 'EE' then 'SE' will display, type in '99' then press and release 'E' The display will be blank except for the decimal point [.] Enter your Count Value. CV = 500 / freq [cps]. Example for 0.812 cps : CV = 500 / 0.812 = 615.76 or 616. The unit reads [0000]. Now press the 'Output' key to continue.
| Desired Gating Frequency | 1/2 cps | 0.812 cps | 1 cps | 2 cps | 3 cps | 4 cps | 6 cps | 8 cps | 10 cps | 12 cps |

[Changes from his book]
The adjustable gating is programmed into this function gererator. When you receive this unit the gating function is TURNED ON as Dr. Bare suggests. You may make changes to fit your needs. The function generator has an adjustable resistor internally installed. It is preset for you using a high quality oscilloscope, to 460 millivolts which Dr. Bare now feels is the best setting. You can change the resistor using a [supplied] screwdriver thru the little hole at the top edge of the case. Adjustment is from 0 to 5 VDC. RH turn increase/LH turn decrease.
